Is your Business as busy as it should be? You need to figure out how your business is going to capitalize on digital marketing, and here are five steps that’ll help you get there.

Step 1. Create a Strategy

If you don’t know where you’re going you’ll never get there. So make a plan. Your strategy doesn’t not have to be complex, in fact the more simple it is, them more likely it will be that you can execute it effectively.

First make sure you identify your target audience. What kind of person is most likely to buy your products or services, and where are you most likely to find them?

Some key tactics your strategy should address include: Search, Social media, Email marketing, site user experience and design, and regular content updates that are relevant to your customers.

Set goals against each of these areas and make a plan to address them in ways that are manageable considering both the time and money you have to invest.

Step 2. Get social.

You may not be all over social media, but you’ll definitely find your customers there. Limit you’re social media endeavors to a couple of channels you can handle well, and where you know you can develop a healthy following from your target audience. Make sure the content you share is relevant to your audience and that it is the kind of thing they will be searching for.

Useful information is more powerful than branding, so a good measuring stick is around 80% information sharing and 20% or less focused on branding and direct sales. But that may vary depending on your industry.

Step 3. Optimize your website.

Design matters and SEO is important. There are a lot of free website scanner’s out there that will look at your site and make recommendations on what you need to do to help you rank higher on Google and other search engines.

Optimize your site with keywords and page titles that are most commonly searched by your customers. Work on getting location service links and other backlinks to your site. Make sure you have pages for each of the products of services you provie.

Step 4. Relevant Content.

Social media, blogs, video content, podcasts, press releases and more. It’s hard, but you’ve gotta commit. It will take a while to work for you, and once you get going, you’ll see the results hit your bottom line. If you slow down or stop publishing good, searchable content, you’ll see that hit your bottom line too, but in a negative way. (show scratch shot)
